As anticipation builds for the Islamic Solidarity Games 2025 in November, attention turns to the journey athletes must take to reach Riyadh.

Set to welcome 3,500 athletes across 23 sports, including 2 para-sports, Riyadh 2025 will be a major showcase of elite talent from across the 57 member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

But how do athletes earn their place at this landmark event?

Each sport has a defined quota of athlete registrations, carefully developed in partnership with the respective International Federations (IFs) and their regulations. These quotas ensure broad participation and are distributed with the goal of achieving gender balance across team and individual events, subject to the final number of registrations.

Athlete slots are allocated to National Olympic Committees (NOCs), who are then responsible for selecting the athletes that will represent them in Riyadh.

In selected sports athletes will also have the opportunity to earn world ranking points, adding even more significance to their performances in Riyadh.

To uphold the integrity of competition, the International Testing Agency (ITA) will implement an official anti-doping programme throughout the Games.

Every step of this pathway reflects the values of fairness and excellence to unite our member countries in the spirit of peace, unity and hope.
