Flagship Program
Forward Through Sports
Program Goal
"Promote the elevation of sports on the national agenda as a key driver of social and economic impact."
The global landscape of physical activity and sports policy is facing significant challenges and needs to be urgently reinvigorated within policy frameworks. The ISSA recognizes the need to address this diminishing global focus and actively promote the integration of physical activity and sports into national development agendas.
Forward Through Sports is designed to serve as a driving force in the development and implementation of sports policies across the ISSA’s member countries.

Challenges were identified in:
- Interactions between national sports systems and regulatory bodies.
- Lack of comprehensive data, research and indices.
- Scarcity of successful models, prototypes and pilot projects.
Competing global priorities, economic constraints, health policy shifts and limited resources and support have often seen physical activity and sports sidelined.
Projected impact
Forward Through Sports brings together stakeholders from across the ISSA’s member countries, facilitating the exchange of best practices, the development of context-specific policies and the establishment of governance structures that support the long-term sustainability of these initiatives.
The program consists of four components:
Strategic partnerships
Advocate leaders training
Policy Symposium, network launch and service introduction
Comprehensive country Showcase, policy Toolkit and awareness campaign
