ISSA General Assembly Confirms New Executive Board for 2026–2029 by Acclamation in Taif

The 15th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), held today in Taif, Saudi Arabia, confirmed the Association’s Executive Board for the 2026–2029 term by acclamation.

HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud was confirmed by acclamation for a further term as ISSA President, alongside the candidates for the elected positions on the Executive Board, reflecting broad consensus across ISSA’s 57 member countries on the direction of the organisation.

The new Executive Board is as follows:

The composition of the Executive Board reflects ISSA’s continued commitment to inclusive and regionally balanced leadership, with strong female representation at the highest levels of the organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, ISSA President HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud said:

“It is our shared responsibility to build on what has been achieved, continue developing the Association and strengthening its role, and ensure that sport remains a bridge for communication, connection and solidarity across the Islamic world.”

The General Assembly opened with a welcome address from ISSA President HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, followed by a report from the Secretary General and statutory reviews.

Following the confirmation of the new Executive Board by acclamation, the General Assembly hosted a special recognition ceremony to honour outgoing Executive Board members for their service and contributions to the ISSA family, including a tribute to the late Colonel Kalkaba Malboum, who served as ISSA Vice President since 2009.

The new ISSA Executive Board then held its first meeting, the 46th ISSA Executive Board Meeting, to discuss the ongoing transformation of the organisation and key priorities for the upcoming term.

The day’s proceedings also included the final meeting of the outgoing ISSA Executive Board earlier in the morning, while delegates will conclude the day’s schedule with the Saudi Olympic & Paralympic Committee Dinner.

Attention now turns to the final day of the General Assembly on 13 September, which will see the ISSA Athletes’ Commission elect its Chair and Vice Chair, who will occupy the remaining two positions on the Board. This will be followed by the inaugural meeting of the Voice Up Steering Committee and an orientation session for the new Executive Board.
