The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games has concluded after setting new standards with outstanding sporting performances and unprecedented engagement.
More than 3,000 athletes from the 57 countries competed across 23 sports from 4-21 November. The medal table featured representation from 42 countries, with Türkiye leading the way on 72 golds, 44 silvers and 39 bronzes.
Uzbekistan, Iran, host nation Saudi Arabia and Egypt completed a top five featuring countries from across three continents.
Riyadh 2025 also saw the Islamic Solidarity Games reach wider audiences with more than 1.5 billion engagements across the official social media platforms, driven by bilingual content in English and Arabic.
The unity across the ISSA’s community was underlined at the Closing Ceremony held at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, attended by athletes, delegates and media representatives.
The Closing Ceremony included a parade of athletes to recognise their contributions to an outstanding Islamic Solidarity Games, and a parade of volunteers to show appreciation for their efforts in organising the event across four major venue clusters.
ISSA President HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal expressed profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their generous support and vision, which paved the way for the Games’ success.
“This edition was made possible through the joint efforts of ISSA, the Local Organising Committee, participating countries, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. We believe that sport is a bridge for connection, a platform for peace, and a unifying force among our nations,” he said.
HRH Prince Abdulaziz officially announced the closure of Riyadh 2025, and passed the torch to Selangor, Malaysia as the host of the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029.
