What is Camel Racing?
Hugely popular in the Middle East, parts of Asia and North Africa, this fascinating sport is making its Games debut and features a race between camelids running at speed while ridden by jockeys over a pre-determined course. Camel racing is about more than just the race, also prioritizing the welfare of jockeys and camelids and fostering sustainable and inclusive practices for the future of the sport.Camel Racing and the ISSA
Making its debut at Riyadh 2025, camel racing will feature 50 athletes (25 men / 25 women) competing for 4 gold medals. Events will be held from 18 to 20 November 2025 at Al Janadriyah.Allocation & Eligibility
NOCs will receive automatic qualification quotas and must nominate athletes according to their allocated quota and national federation criteria.
They must confirm their intention to pre-select male and female jockeys over 18 years old, followed by submitting full details of the pre-selected athletes.
Jockeys must comply with International Federation nationality regulations and hold a valid license from their national federation.
Eligible jockeys must be at least 18 years old, have a bodyweight between 45kg-65kg, are expected to participate in training camps, and follow the prescribed preparation training.
