What is Esports?
Esports refers to competition in multiple video and computer games where two or more competitors from different teams or leagues duel in a game. The participating athletes are called gamers, with Esports differing from standard video gaming through the elevated competitive nature. E-sports began in the 1970s with small video game tournaments such as the 1972 Spacewar competition at Stanford University. The 1990s saw explosive growth with games like StarCraft and the rise of online multiplayer gaming. In the 2000s, streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube propelled e-sports into a global industry featuring professional teams and major prize pools.Esports and the ISSA
