What is Futsal?
Originating in Uruguay in the 1930s, futsal is an indoor version of football played on smaller courts with five players per side. It gained widespread popularity in South America, particularly in Brazil, where many football legends developed their skills. Futsal will make its debut at Riyadh 2025, featuring 16 teams (8 men’s / 8 women’s) competing for 2 gold medals from 3 to 11 November 2025 at Green Hall.Allocation & Eligibility
The top seven NOCs from ISSA member countries, based on the FIFA Futsal World Rankings, will receive team men’s/women’s team slots.
The next best-ranked NOC will be invited if any cannot participate. If teams lack a FIFA Futsal world ranking, selection will be based on invitation from ISSA, followed by the FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings.
The host country directly receives one men’s/women’s team slot.
