What is Table Tennis?
Featuring singles, doubles and team events, table tennis demands rapid reactions and reflexes. The aim is to hit a light ball with small bats over the net to your opponent’s side of the table without reply. Table tennis originated in England in the 1880s as an indoor leisure game known as "ping pong" before becoming a competitive sport. Table tennis has been part of three previous editions and returns for Riyadh 2025, featuring 128 athletes (64 men / 64 women) competing for 7 gold medals from 8 to 13 November 2025 at Boulevard Arena 01B.Allocation & Eligibility
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and ISSA will allocate up to 61 slots per gender based on NOC/NSF participation in ITTF sanctioned events and universality.
The host nation receives a quota of three athletes per gender – this is also the allocation limit for all other NOCs.
Athletes must adhere to the ITTF eligibility regulations.
