The National Olympic and Sports Committee of Burkina Faso was established in 1965 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1972.
Burkina Faso began its participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games from the inaugural edition in 2005 and has never missed a single edition since.

Marthe Koala
Burkina Faso’s star athlete Marthe Koala made history in the 5th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games – Konya 2021 – by winning her country’s first-ever gold medal in the history of the Games. She claimed first place in the long jump competition with a leap of 6.53 meters.
