A delegation from the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA) began an official visit to Malaysia as part of the early preparations for the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029, which will be hosted in the State of Selangor.
The delegation was led by ISSA Secretary General, Mr. Nasser Majali, and included a series of official meetings and workshops with Malaysian stakeholders to discuss areas of cooperation and coordination for the upcoming preparatory phase.
The visit included meetings with Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Muhammad Taufiq Johari, Olympic Council of Malaysia President Dr. Mohamad Norza Zakaria, and Selangor State Minister & ExCo for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship, Mohd Najwan bin Halimi.
The ISSA Secretary General expressed his appreciation to the Olympic Council of Malaysia and the State of Selangor for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, reaffirming ISSA’s commitment to working with its partners to deliver a successful edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games that reflects the values of unity and solidarity among its member countries.
“We are very pleased to be in Malaysia and to witness first-hand the strong commitment and readiness of our partners as we begin the journey toward the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2029. This visit marks an important step in building a solid and collaborative foundation with all stakeholders involved,” Majali said.
“We are confident that Selangor 2029 will deliver an exceptional edition that reflects the spirit of unity, solidarity and excellence at the heart of the Islamic Solidarity Games.”
The meetings discussed preparations for the 7th Islamic Solidarity Games and the roadmap toward delivering a successful edition of the event, in addition to future cooperation opportunities linked to the ISSA’s programmes and initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration among member countries.
The ISSA also held a workshop with the Malaysia 2029 team, covering several key areas related to Games planning and delivery, ISSA standards, governance and operational coordination.
Selangor 2029 promises to build on the positive momentum generated by the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in November 2025.
