The Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee was established in 1961 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1963. Senegal has participated in the Islamic Solidarity Games since the inaugural edition in 2005 and has never missed a single edition.

Sangoné Kandji
Sangoné Kandji became the first athlete to win a gold medal for Senegal at the Islamic Solidarity Games after her victory in the triple jump event at the 4th edition in Baku 2017. She recorded a distance of 13.05 meters, which was a personal best for her at the time.
