The Yemen Olympic Committee was established in 1974 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1981.
Yemen began its participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games from the very first edition in 2005 and has not missed a single edition since.

Anas Aqlan
Taekwondo athlete Malek Aqlan holds Yemen’s greatest achievement in the history of the Islamic Solidarity Games. He won a silver medal in the -67 kg weight category during the first edition of the Games in 2005.
