Mauritania's Collaboration With ISSA
The Mauritanian National Olympic and Sports Committee was established in 1977 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1979.
Mauritania began its participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games from the first edition in 2005 and has not missed any edition since.

Men’s National Football Team
Mauritania’s men’s national football team has shown remarkable progress in recent years. The team made its first-ever appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 and went on to qualify for the following two editions. Impressively, in the 2023 edition, Mauritania advanced beyond the group stage and narrowly exited the tournament in the Round of 16 after a hard-fought 1–0 loss to Cape Verde.
