The Guyana Olympic Association was established and recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1948.
Guyana began participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games from the first edition in 2005 and has not missed any edition since.

Winston George
Sprinter Winston George is considered one of Guyana’s top athletes. He brought home four medals for his country at the Islamic Solidarity Games — 3 silver and 1 bronze — across the Palembang 2013 and Baku 2017 editions, competing in the 200m and 400m races.
