Iraq's Collaboration With ISSA
The National Olympic Committee of Iraq was established in 1948 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the same year.
Iraq began participating in the Islamic Solidarity Games from the very first edition in 2005, and also took part in the Palembang 2013 and Baku 2017 editions.

Across all previous editions of the Islamic Solidarity Games, Iraq has won a total of 43 medals — 13 gold, 17 silver and 13 bronze.

Safaa Rashed
Weightlifter Safaa Rashed is one of Iraq’s top athletes in the sport of weightlifting. He won the gold medal in the 85kg category at the fourth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games – Baku 2017. A year later, he went on to claim another well-deserved gold medal at the Asian Games.
