The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee was established in 1964 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in 1965. Saudi Arabia has participated in the Islamic Solidarity Games since the inaugural edition in 2005 and has never missed a single edition.

Participation In Islamic Solidarity Games
Saudi Arabia hosted the very first Islamic Solidarity Games in 2005, making it especially meaningful that the Kingdom is hosting Riyadh 2025 on the 20th anniversary of the inaugural event. Ahead of Riyadh 2025, Saudi Arabia has won a total of 111 medals in the Islamic Solidarity Games: 37 gold, 33 silver and 41 bronze.

Saudi sprinter Yousef Masrahi, a 400m specialist, has won three medals at the Islamic Solidarity Games — two gold and one silver — across the Palembang 2013 and Konya 2021 editions. His excellence also extends to the Asian Games, where he secured three gold medals, along with seven medals in the Asian Athletics Championships, including three golds.
